HSBC Malta Property Expo 2010 next weekend at MFCC

Largest themed fair in Malta

The second edition of the HSBC Malta Property Expo opens to the general public on Friday at the Malta Fairs and Convention Centre, Ta’ Qali. After the huge success of the very first Maltese property expo, held last year, expectations are high for another event that will continue to boost the Maltese real estate industry.

The Malta Property Expo was conceived by Duplex Real Estate Branding to create an effective platform for property developers and estate agents to market and sell their properties. Up to this time last year, no other event of this kind or scale had ever been organised in Malta; and one of the biggest challenges was explaining the vision of the event to potential exhibitors and the public.

Another even larger challenge the organisers faced was the global financial crisis, brought to a head mainly with the collapse of Lehman Brothers in the United States and the huge credit crunch that followed. That story broke the day after the Expo was launched with the trade, and the situation made everything so much more difficult.

The organisers persevered and, despite everything, the Expo turned out to be a huge success. So much so that, last October, it received a Highly Commended Award at the OPP Trade Awards in London.

Fast forward to a year later and we are a few days before opening the second edition. Armed with the know-how gleaned from their first experience and a whole year of preparations later, the organisers are confident that they will manage to outdo the success they achieved last year, with a number of exciting innovations.

With more exhibitors, bigger and better designed stands, great offers and attention to detail, the HSBC Malta Property Expo is the largest themed fair in Malta.

Better facilities – the organisers have taken the trouble to provide better catering facilities both for exhibitors and the public, as well as a larger and more ‘fun’ play area for children. So, parents, rest assured that a family visit to the Expo will end up being pleasant experience for everyone.

More coverage – apart from a very widespread communications campaign carried out over the past few months both in Malta as well as overseas, this very newspaper – The Property Standard – is being published as an additional promotional tool for the event.
More initiatives – through a collaboration agreement with Air Malta and The Palace Hotel, flights and accommodation have been arranged from London to Malta to try to attract more foreign visitors to the Expo. This endeavour is still in the early stages and will require more time to reach its intended audience. However, this is a sign of where things may be heading in future.

More education – the organisers have devised a design competition, in conjunction with the Faculty for the Built Environment at the University of Malta, for third-year architecture students. This competition is intended to stimulate creativity from upcoming architects, while giving them first-hand exposure to the industry where they will be working in future.
Largest prize money ever – with an online pre-registered ticket or the €3 entrance ticket, every visitor to the Expo gets a chance to win €100,000 worth of prize money that can be redeemed from any exhibitor at the Expo or advertiser in this newspaper. All one has to do is to try to guess the value of a secret property. If the safe opens, the money is won.
