Malta Property Expo a resounding success

Three weeks after the HSBC Advance Malta Property Expo 2011 closed its doors at the MFCC, Ta’ Qali, and the momentum has been sustained with many exhibitors confirming they are still following up many of the enquiries received with on-site property viewings around Malta and Gozo.

This third edition of the HSBC Advance Malta Property Expo 2011 was opened by Parliamentary Secretary for Small Business and Land in the Ministry of Finance, the Economy and Investment Jason Azzopardi, along with Keith Pillow, managing director of Duplex REB, who organised the Expo, and Andrew Ripley, head of Personal Finance at HSBC Bank Malta plc, the main sponsors.

Among the distinguished visitors – there were 4,490 quality visitors this year – were Opposition leader Joseph Muscat and Mrs Kate Gonzi, wife of the Prime Minister, who took the time to listen to the problems the industry is facing and promised to pass the message on to the responsible authorities.

An integral part of the Expo was the Real Estate Forum, which started with two presentations by Adrian Said, managing director of EMCS, and Sigfús Jónsson from Iceland, giving an international perspective. The next day there were interventions from Joyce Grech, Head of Product Management at HSBC Bank Malta plc; Dr Gordon Cordina from the University of Malta; Joseph Gauci, who is responsible for town planning at MEPA; Joseph Theuma, general manager of ReMax Malta; and Keith Pillow, managing director of Duplex Real Estate Branding.

A panel discussion had interventions from MEPA chairman Austin Walker, Kamra tal-Periti president Vincent Cassar; Malta Developers Association president Michael Falzon; and Federation of Estate Agents president Ian Casolani.

The organisers received praise for the new layout of the Expo, which enabled visitors to visit all the stands in an easy flow and promoted the easy interaction for all concerned.

Mr Pillow said Duplex REB are very happy with the level achieved this year and they have already started laying plans for an even bigger event next year. “The Expo has become an annual national event and now we plan to take it to an international level,” he said.

Among the satisfied exhibitors were Sara Grech, who commented: “We generated a number of quality leads from the HSBC Advance Malta Property Expo 2011 – simply a fantastic, well planned event. We were extremely busy and I was pleased to see so many buyers. I am sure that all the participants and attendees got a lot out of the event and must be looking forward to it being a permanent fixture in their calendar. We look forward to joining the Expo next year.”

Ian Casolani, of Belair Real Estate, added: “The show this year proved to be a very productive one for us, generating a number of genuine leads. This could also be due to the different approach we used compared to other years, which was also possible thanks to your contribution.”
